CUHK Public Health Humanitarian Initiative (CUHK-PHHI) is an initiative of the School of Public Health within the CUHK academic community. The initiative will aim to combine expertise in public health, medicine, social science and humanities to advance research, practice and policy in humanitarian assistance to disadvantaged and marginalized populations. It coincides with CUHK School of Public Health¡¦s long term plans to develop regional public health expertise in global health research.
The initiative¡¦s mission is to reduce health inequalities by contributing skills and knowledge in advancing the science and practice of humanitarian response worldwide. There are 2 major goals of the CUHK-PHHI, which are:
- To improve the effectiveness of humanitarian strategies in public health and medical interventions, with emphasis on ethics and human values;
- To build an interdisciplinary network at CUHK to analyze and support public health development and assistance initiatives in the Asia-Pacific Region.
